Proven on the station

We made it because we needed it to hold.

Duncan and Fee Ensor run Black Hill Station on the upper Rakaia, in country that finds the weak point in any fence. After more than twenty years of fencing it ourselves, we got tired of gear that was either unavailable in New Zealand or not built to last, so we started making and sourcing our own.

Every product is used and tested on our place before we offer it for sale. If it would not hold our cattle on a hard hill, it does not go in the range.

Our story

How a product earns its place

Made, galvanised, tested, stocked.

> design to spec for NZ high-country conditions > full saddle weld every join > hot-dip galvanise, 500 gr/m2 min > run it on Black Hill Station > passed, added to the range
01

Made to spec

Designed for the holes, weights and lengths NZ fencing actually needs, not a generic import.

02

Welded & galvanised

Full saddle welds, then hot-dip galvanised after welding so the coating seals every joint.

03

Tested on our land

Put to work on Black Hill Station before it is sold. The hill is the quality check.

04

Stocked & sent

Held in stock at the Mid Canterbury yard and supplied right across the country.

Why hot-dip galvanised

A coating that seals the weld, not just the surface.

Plenty of fencing steel is bitumen-dipped or galvanised before it is welded, which leaves the joints bare. We galvanise after welding, so the zinc gets into every join and the gear lasts in coastal and hard country where cheaper coatings give out.

Read the guarantee

Cheaper coatings

  • Coated before welding, bare joints
  • Bitumen wears at the contact points
  • Higher-tensile steel can fail under load
  • Posts sink into soft ground over time

Our gear

  • Hot-dip galvanised after welding
  • 500 gr/m2 minimum, sealed joints
  • Q235 steel at the heaviest Y-post weight
  • Rise plates stop posts pulling in

Our guarantee

If it fails in fair use, we replace it.

We only supply products made to our own specification, tested on our high-country property before they are sold. We guarantee the lifetime of each item against reasonable failure or damage in its intended use. We believe in the gear because we run it ourselves.
